Warmed Over Death Cab
Some days you're the windshield and some days you're the bug. I think that Chris should maybe focus on playing guitar and let someone else produce their next few albums, like John Goodmunson. They were out of key on many songs and flubbed more than a few breaks. I often marvel at how a band can go out there night after night and stay fresh. Being pros, they covered it over pretty well. Lately their studio stuff sounds too sterile and slick to me--overproduced IMHO. I'm sure that many in the crowd didn't notice or didn't care. I just know when a band is "on," as the Decemberists were on Friday night in the very same venue, and when a band is "off." It's just that I look forward to their live shows so much because it's where their music really comes to life. I'm cutting them some slack because it was at the end of a very long tour. But when you're playing for the hometown crowd, it might be better to rest up beforehand. I'm not giving up on these guys by any means don't get me wrong. Call me a snob, I'll accept that. And The Book Of Mormon should put out a live album, in fact they should have done that years ago.
